Some Information about Desiring Dead Flesh.
(A Bio I guess it would be called)
Desiring Dead Flesh was started in the summer of 2000 by Bryan Hampton from Ripped Heart Productions in Mid-Michigan. After more than a decade of running shows (Ripped Heart), sound (Not My Show Sound, recording demos for other bands and other things to support the local scene) in Mid-Michigan, Bryan decided to do what most people start out doing in the scene, 'singing' for a punk rock band. Bryan lives in Bay City, MI with his wife Julie and their 2 kids Adam and Ravyn. The band's style is heavily influenced from 80s hardcore punk with short, fast songs filled with gang vocals and energy. Some of the songs are about serious topics, some about the scene and family, and some are just meant to be fun humor songs. Despite numerous member changes over the years the band has continued to play out, write songs and improve.

Even though going through continual line up changes has its frustrations, it has given me the chance to play with many great people. Everyone here holds a special place in the history of Desiring Dead Flesh as well as a special place in my heart. I'm glad to have worked with all of them and very thankful to them.
What Does Desiring Dead Flesh sing about?
The 'scene' (God Save The Scene, Unity Beyond, Call us Dicks...), family and faith (A Day with Dad, Kmart's Parking Lot, Broom Tree, Homeless...), social topics (Postpartum Abortion, A Bottle of Beer, Debt...) and some are just for fun (Cannibal, Cold Frame, Phone Company Hates Hardcore...)
Is Desiring Dead Flesh a 'Christian Band'?
Usually when I'm asked this I first ask the person how they define a Christian Band. Everybody seems to have a different definition. By some definitions Desiring Dead Flesh would be, by some we are not....
I am a Christian and I write about stuff that has meaning to me... my family, the scene and (even) my beliefs.
From our song "Call us Dicks"... "some people say Christians don't belong in the scene. But I always thought hardcore and punk was mad at the status quo of society, wanting a chance to vent say what you think and fight for change. This is not our unity song it is about standing for what you believe. Even if you don't agree with me sing what you believe. Even if people hate you for it, sing what you believe. Isn't what you believe more important than another meaningless song?". One of the things I liked about punk when I first came to the scene was that many of the bands sang about what they believed, not just 'oh baby' songs. So, yeah, I do sing about what I believe.
But the views and opinions in the words of the songs are mine (bryan) and may or may not be shared by the other members (past or present)...
What is the Relationship of Ripped Heart Productions, Not My Show PA Rentals and Desiring Dead Flesh?
They are 3 different things I (bryan hampton) do in the scene. But they are seperate and different things.
Ripped Heart: runs shows.
Not My Show: runs sound.
Desiring Dead Flesh: a punk band.
"Not My Show" runs sound for many different promoters doing a lot wider varity of shows than "Ripped Heart" runs.
You can hire "Not My Show" for sound without it being a "Ripped Heart" show or booking "Desiring Dead Flesh" to play.
"Desiring Dead Flesh" plays shows that aren't run by "Ripped Heart" or "Not My Show" doing sound.
"Ripped Heart" runs shows that Desiring Dead Flesh isn't scheduled to play. But, of course "Not My Show" does sound at the "Ripped Heart" shows because I want to know the sound will be good, consistant and on time...
