ripped heart productions

Ripped Heart Productions, started and run by Bryan Hampton, promotes local hall shows in Mid-Michigan.

The two venues Ripped Heart uses regurally are Olde Jamestowne Hall, 7035 Swan Creek Rd, Saginaw MI and Redeeming Love, 3051 Kiesel Rd, Bay City MI. All shows are all ages and no alcohol.
A typical Ripped Heart show now at Olde Jamestowne Hall is on a Saturday has about 10 bands, with a variety of punk with some other styles thrown in and Admission $5.
A Typical Ripped Heart show @ Redeeming Love is on a Friday night, Admission is $3. Compared to the Olde Jamestowne shows Redeeming Love shows vary more in style with some being punk, some metal, some hardcore and some shows include a variety of styles. The Redeeming Love shows are typically 'cleaner', no smoking inside and the bands agree not to 'swear'.

During the summer Ripped Heart runs a big 2 day outdoor show (called a festival by some) at Redeeming Love with over 50 bands playing and still just $5.

HISTORY
Back in 1987 I had a friend, Robbie, who wanted to see the Altar Boys come to Flint, MI. Instead of sitting around and complaining that nobody was bringing them in Robbie decided to start running shows with the help of some friends. By 1988 when his 1st shows actually happened the group of friends working on the shows was down to Robbie and myself. (We never did book the altar boys but somebody else brought them to flint in 88.) By 1990, when Robbie and I went our seperate ways we had run about a dozen shows, with such touring bands as Barren Cross (2x), The Lead (2x), Gaurdian, Whitecross as well as many Michigan bands like Armada, Xalt, Mercy Rule, Tongues and Fire, CT Action, Acceptance among others and spent 1000s of dollars to do so. I continue to run shows... Ripped Heart Productions was born.

Ripped Heart started out with the motto of "Raising Up The Underground". Giving bands, that I wanted to see, a chance to play some good shows in my area. Ripped Heart started out doing, heavy Christian bands, who at the time, had it very rough getting shows. The 'Christian' scene didn't book heavy christian bands much because it was too heavy and there were pits. At the same time the 'regular' scene didn't book them much because of so many stereotypes about Christian bands (some of the stereotypes were warrented, but not for all the bands). A lot has changed around the scene since then and for Christian bands. Ripped Heart still promotes bands that I like and/or that don't get many oppertunities in this area. These days Ripped Heart shows probably would not be considered 'Christian' shows, the majority of the bands are not 'christian' bands by any definition. I'm striving to put together fun shows, with bands that aren't playing the area every week, have good attitudes and love the scene. The Motto "Raising Up The Underground" still fits.

What is the Relationship of Ripped Heart Productions, Not My Show PA Rentals and Desiring Dead Flesh?
They are 3 different things I (bryan hampton) do in the scene. But they are seperate and different things.
Ripped Heart: runs shows.
Not My Show: runs sound.
Desiring Dead Flesh: a punk band.
"Not My Show" runs sound for many different promoters doing a lot wider varity of shows than "Ripped Heart" runs.
You can hire "Not My Show" for sound without it being a "Ripped Heart" show or booking "Desiring Dead Flesh" to play.
"Desiring Dead Flesh" plays shows that aren't run by "Ripped Heart" or "Not My Show" doing sound.
"Ripped Heart" runs shows that Desiring Dead Flesh isn't scheduled to play. But, of course "Not My Show" does sound at the "Ripped Heart" shows because I want to know the sound will be good, consistant and on time...
